COMING SOON - Boxed Hanging Scroll Samurai Horse with Mount Fuji Colour Kakajiku
This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features a Japanese samurai with its armor, helmet, and bow riding a black horse. The top of Mount Fuji is picked through clouds at the top of the composition. This piece is signed and has a red seal. It is stored in a wooden box with the title on the lid.
Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
